In my original LinkedIn post I asked my two best new workfriends what they thought, in 100 words, what the current tech trends are. ChatGPT rather verbosely took 122 words and summarised what is going on in AI,Quantum, Extended Reality, Cloud/Edge, IoT and 6G. Perplexity rather more economically took 92 words to talk about AI, Edge, RPA, Metaverse andl ow-code-no-code platforms. Both put up a good response but were only really aligned on AI and Edge.
Given that the parameter I supplied was ‘100 words’ I’m a bit surprised that they both did not adhere to this. Perhaps if our rapidly evolving AI engines ignore some commands when it suits them surely that can’t lead to anything sinister in the future can it?
As part of the comments from the post I now also have the responses for Copilot and Deepseek which I’ve included here. Interestingly Deepseek was the only one who used 100 words! Copilot introduced trends in clean energy, governance, nuclear power and neuromorphic computing, Deepseek specifically called out Biotech advances enabling personalised medicine and longevity breakthroughs.
It certainly highlights that the use of these tools is really like talking to a work colleague who can express an individual opinion. The days of expecting the same response for the same set of inputs are numbered!
The responses are below, what do you think is the best?
